Notice of Unavailability of Official Reporter

See the Notice of Unavailability of Official Reporter for full details.

For matters beginning on October 1, 2013, parties may arrange for privately retained certified court reporters to serve as an official reporter pro tempore where the Court will no longer be providing an official reporter.

It will be the party's responsibility to pay the reporter's fee for attendance at the proceedings, but the expense may be recoverable as part of the costs, as provided by law. 2.956( c ), Cal. Rules of Court.

If a party arranges and pays for the attendance of a certified shorthand reporter at a hearing in a civil case because of the unavailability of the services of an official court reporter, none of the parties may be charged the reporter's attendance fee provided for in Government Code Sections 68086 (b)(1). 2.956 (d), Cal. Rules of Court

The Approved Official Reporter Pro Tempore list, containing the names and contact information of court reporters who have been pre-approved by the Court, will be available on the Court's website. A reporter selected from the Approved Official Reporter Pro Tempore list may report a hearing without the need for a stipulation by the parties or order of the Court.

Parties that arrange for the appointment of a court reporter who is not on the Approved Official Reporter Pro Tempore list must do so by completion of the Stipulation to Appointment of Official Reporter Pro Tempore form. The court reporter shall complete the Appointment of Official Reporter Pro Tempore and be appointed by the Court. See Government Code §70044.
